Paul M. Simons

Paul M. Simons is the Executive Vice President and Chief of Corporate Strategy and Development for Boston Private, responsible for the development and execution of strategic growth plans for the company. Mr. Simons has more than 30 years of leadership experience and expertise across multiple aspects of financial services, including wealth management, private banking, family office, asset management, financial technology, investment banking and client relationship management. He has experience with companies of various business models and organizational size, with a specialty in identifying and executing on opportunities for growth and transformation.

Mr. Simons joined Boston Private in December of 2018, previously serving as Managing Director of an institutional securities firm, leading the development of a new business to diversify the firm’s revenue streams and deliver bespoke managed investment solutions to high-net-worth families. Prior to that, Mr. Simons served as provisional CEO for a financial information and technology company, where he led the creation of a digital investment and advanced data & analytics platform for investors, advisors and financial institutions.

From 2006 to 2011, Mr. Simons worked at Credit Suisse in a range of high-level positions. Beginning with the company as Managing Director and Head of the Americas Client Solution Group, he was recruited to a newly created role overseeing the implementation of the company’s integrated bank strategy across Private Banking, Investment Banking and Asset Management within the Americas region. Mr. Simons was then promoted to Managing Director and Co-Head of Private Banking USA, where he worked closely with Boston Private CEO Anthony DeChellis, who at the time served as CEO of Credit Suisse’s Private Bank Americas. From 1988 to 2006, Mr. Simons held various positions at Merrill Lynch, including Managing Director of Global Markets and Investment Banking, and was part of the executive team responsible for the construction and growth of Merrill Lynch’s Private Banking and Investment Group, a new Private Wealth business at the time.

Mr. Simons graduated from Duke University with a bachelor’s degree in political science, and completed the Executive Leadership Program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. He serves on the board of directors for Intonation Music Workshop, a nonprofit music education initiative, and as a trustee of Millbrook School, a private coeducational boarding school in Millbrook, N.Y.
