Setting up direct connect access for quickbooks and quicken

Direct Connect is a two-way connection method between Quicken/QuickBooks and a financial institution's digital banking channel.

To allow QuickBooks and Quicken to connect directly to Digital Banking via DirectConnect, please contact the Concierge Desk at 888-322-2120 to request that this feature be enabled for your username. Once enabled, see the following Instructions on how to setup Direct Connect for Quicken/QuickBooks for Windows, and for MAC.

Quicken – Windows – Direct Connect

Procedures

Task 1: Preparation

  1. Back up your data file. For instructions to back up your data file, choose Help menu > Quicken Help. Search for Back up Data File and follow the instructions.

  2. Download the latest Quicken Update. For instructions to download an update, choose Help menu > Quicken Help. Search for Update Software and follow the instructions.

Task 2: Enrollment for Direct Connect Access

IMPORTANT: We have implemented enhanced security to help protect your information transmission via Quicken Direct Connect. If you are initiating your first Direct Connect connectivity, please contact the Concierge Desk at 888-322-2120 to request access to enable Direct Connect from Digital Banking.

  1. Call the Concierge Desk at 888-322-2120

  2. Proceed with the instructions below

Task 3: Setup One Step Update for Accounts in Quicken

  1. Choose Tools menu > Account

  2. Enter SVB Private - Legacy BP Client in the search field, select the name.

  3. Select Advance Options.

  4. Select Direct Connect > Next.

  5. Select, Type of Account: Banking Account > Next.

  6. Enter your Digital Banking Username and Password and click Connect.

  1. Account Found: Action

  • Ensure your associate the account to the appropriate account already listed in Quicken. You will want to select Link to existing account and select the matching accounts in the drop-down menu.
  • If it's a new Account, choose Add to Quicken.
  1. After all accounts have been matched, click Next. You will receive confirmation that your accounts have been added.
  2. Click Done or Finish.

Task 4: Online Bill Payment

IMPORTANT: Online Bill Payment feature is only supported with Private Digital Banking - Personal Bill Pay. This feature is used to transmit bill payments and biller (payee) details to/from Quicken.

  1. User must have bill pay enabled via their Private Digital Banking username

  2. Quicken screen:

  • Navigate to the Accounts, and right click on the account that is enabled for bill pay on you Digital Banking profile.
  • Select, Edit/Delete account
  • Account Details screen:
    • Go to, Online Services (tab)
    • Online Bill Payments
      • Payment Method: Bank Bill Pay
      • Online Bill Pay: No (not enabled)/Yes (enabled)
    • Action: Check for Bank Bill Pay (not enable)/Deactivate (enabled)

QuickBooks – Windows – Direct Connect

Procedures

Task 1: Preparation

  1. Download the latest QuickBooks update. For instructions to download an update, choose Help menu > QuickBooks Help. Search for Update QuickBooks, then select Update QuickBooks and follow the instructions.

Task 3: Setup Bank Feed for an Account

  1. Choose Banking menu > Bank Feeds > Setup Bank Feed for an Account.
  2. Enter, then select SVB Private - Legacy BP Client, click Next.

  3. Please click on "Use Advance Setup" link to select Direct Connect.

  4. Enter you Digital Banking login credentials, and click Connect.
  5. Link your your bank accounts with the existing QuickBooks accounts or Add Account, and click Connect.

Task 4: Online Bill Payment

MPORTANT: Online Bill Payment feature is only supported with Private Digital Banking - Personal Bill Pay. This feature is used to transmit bill payments and biller (payee) details to/from QuickBooks.

  1. User must have bill pay enabled via their Private Digital Banking username
  2. QuickBooks screen:
    • Navigate to the Lists> Chart of Accounts> review list of Accounts, and right click on the account that is enabled for bill pay on you Digital Banking profile.
    • Select, Edit Account
    • Go to, Bank Feed Settings (tab)
      • Online Bill Payments: Check box to enable transmission of bill payments.
      • Select: Save and Close

QuickBooks – MAC – Direct Connect

Procedures

Task 1: Preparation

Back up your data file. For instructions to back up your data file, choose Help menu and use the Search bar available at the top. Search for Back Up and follow the instructions on screen. The first time you do a back up, QuickBooks will guide you through setting back up preferences.

  1. Download the latest QuickBooks Update. For instructions to download an update, choose Help menu and use the Search bar available at the top. Search for Update QuickBooks, select Check for QuickBooks Updates and follow the instructions.

Task 2: Enrollment for Direct Connect Access

Task 3: Setup Bank Feed to SVB Private Bank

  1. Choose Banking menu > Online Banking Setup.

  2. Enter and select SVB Private - Legacy BP Client from the Financial Institution list>Next

  3. Follow the instructions in the wizard. If prompted for connectivity type, select Direct Connect.

  1. The Online Banking Assistant window displays during setup. Select Yes, my account has been activated for QuickBooks online services, then click Next.

  2. Enter online credentials and click Sign In.

  3. For each account you wish to download into QuickBooks, click Select an Account to connect to the appropriate existing account register.

NOTE: Do NOT select “New” under the action column if the account is already setup on QuickBooks.

  1. Click Next, then Done.

  2. Add or match all downloaded transactions in the Downloaded Transactions window.

Task 4: Online Bill Payment

IMPORTANT: Online Bill Payment feature is only supported with Private Digital Banking - Personal Bill Pay. This feature is used to transmit bill payments and biller (payee) details to/from QuickBooks.

  1. User must have bill pay enabled via their Private Digital Banking username.

  2. QuickBooks screen:

  • Navigate to the Lists> Chart of Accounts> review list of Accounts, and right click on the account that is enabled for bill pay on you Digital Banking profile.
  • Select, Edit Account
  • Go to, Bank Feed Settings (tab)

  2. Download the latest Quicken Update. For instructions to download an update, choose Help menu > Search. Search for Updates, select “Check for Updates,” and follow the instructions.

Task 3: Setup One Step Update for Accounts in Quicken

  1. Navigate to Accounts and select + icon to Add Account.

  2. Choose Checking.

  3. Search for SVB Private - Legacy BP Client.

  4. Enter your Digital Banking Username and Password and click Continue

NOTE: Select “Direct Connect” for the “Connection Type” if prompted.

  1. In the “Accounts Found” screen, associate each new account to the appropriate account already listed in Quicken. Under the Action column, select “Link” to pick your existing account.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT select “ADD” under the action column unless you intend to add a new account to Quicken.

  1. Select Finish.

Task 4: Online Bill Payment

IMPORTANT: Online Bill Payment feature is only supported with Private Digital Banking - Personal Bill Pay. This feature is used to transmit bill payments and biller (payee) details to/from Quicken

  1. User must have bill pay enabled via their Private Digital Banking username
  2. Quicken screen:
  • Select the account that is enabled for bill pay on you Digital Banking profile.
  • Select Settings (navigate to the bottom left corner of screen)
  • Account Settings:
    • Go to, Downloads (tab)
      • Connection Type: Direct Connect
    • Bill Pay (tab)
      • Bank Bill Pay
      • Status:
        • Enabled /Disable Bank Bill Pay
        • Not Enabled / Enable Bank Bill Pay
      • Done
