Boston Private expands Northern California trust team

Boston Private is pleased to announce the addition of three new trust officers in the San Francisco Bay Area: Fernando Cabildo, Michael Cartmell and Lawrence Wong. The new talent expands the firm’s ability to provide sophisticated, multi-generational wealth and estate planning. All three officers have deep experience providing complex trust and estate administration services.

Fernando Cabildo joins Boston Private with more than 15 years of experience administering personal trusts, special needs trusts, charitable trusts, probate estates and conservatorships. He began his wealth management career as a trusts and estates paralegal with a San Jose law firm, and since 2010, has served as a trust administrator and officer with community and national banks throughout Northern and Southern California.

Mr. Cabildo holds a Bachelor’s degree in business management, and graduated from UC Berkeley’s Paralegal Studies program. He is an honors graduate of the Canon Trust School and holds a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation.  Mr. Cabildo is a member of the Paralegal Association of Santa Clara County and an associated professional member of the Palo Alto Area Bar Association. He is a native of the Bay Area.

Michael Cartmell brings more than 30 years of experience assisting clients in managing a broad array of personal trusts, charitable trusts, conservatorships and estates, as both wealth planner and trust officer. Prior to joining Boston Private, Mr. Cartmell served as a Senior Wealth Planner at HSBC, consulting with clients on their wealth transfer and business succession strategies with an emphasis on cross-border matters. Previously, he held senior trust positions at Northern Trust and Wells Fargo, where he administered trusts and settled estates for clients in San Francisco and Silicon Valley.

Mr. Cartmell is a graduate of University of California’s Hastings College of The Law. He holds the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation. Mr. Cartmell is an active member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners’ San Francisco and Silicon Valley Chapters.

Lawrence Wong joins with over 20 years’ experience in account administration in family wealth and complex trusts and estates. Prior to joining Boston Private, Mr. Wong held senior trust positions at Bank of Marin, Northern Trust Company and First Republic Bank.

A San Francisco native, Mr. Wong received his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and management from San Francisco State University. He is an Emerging Advisor at the San Francisco Foundation.
