Boston Private Executives Honored by Women’s Institute for Housing and Economic Development

BOSTON, MA – SEPTEMBER 13, 2018 – Boston Private, a leading provider of fully integrated wealth management, trust and private banking services, announced today that Esther Schlorholtz, Senior Vice President and Director of Community Investment, and Sarah Lamitie, Senior Vice President and Community Investment Officer, were honored with the Nancy Nye Memorial Award by the Women’s Institute for Housing and Economic Development.
The Women’s Institute created the Nancy Nye Memorial Award to recognize women who work in community and economic development and embody Nancy Nye’s tenacity in overcoming barriers, action-orientation, and commitment to social justice and women’s issues. Ms. Schlorholtz and Ms. Lamitie were recognized for their work in financing affordable housing and community development and promoting opportunity for our most vulnerable neighbors.
The Women’s Institute is a national award-winning affordable housing development organization pursuing the core mission of promoting economic resilience and stable homes by developing and preserving high quality affordable and supportive housing, with an emphasis on underserved populations. Each year the Institute hosts an annual meeting to celebrate success over the past year, share what is in store for the next year and beyond, and honor individuals dedicated to the housing and community development fields.

Ms. Schlorholtz has over 30 years of community development experience through positions both within the city government and financial services. She has been at Boston Private for more than 20 years and is responsible for coordinating the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) programs, overseeing community development lending, residential and small business lending, and philanthropic giving focused on serving low- and moderate-income households. Ms. Schlorholtz serves on the boards of Metro Housing Boston, the Massachusetts Growth Capital Corporation, Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association, the MA Housing Investment Corporation’s Loan and New Markets Tax Credit committees, and is a member of the Newton Fair Housing Committee.
With over 15 years of experience at Boston Private, Ms. Lamitie also oversees the company’s CRA investments and promotes its CRA efforts in Greater Boston. Prior to joining Boston Private, Ms. Lamitie was engaged in affordable housing finance at the Boston Housing Authority, and the Boston Department of Neighborhood Development. She serves on the boards of the Massachusetts Community & Banking Council, Southwest Boston Community Development Corporation, and the Steering Committee of the Mel King Institute for Community Building.
