Walter
M. Pressey
President and Vice Chairman
As President and Vice Chairman of Boston Private, Walt's
activities are focused on a broad variety of strategic matters,
with specific emphasis on operational execution. He oversees
the company's acquisition efforts and is the chief negotiator
for all transactions.
Walt works very closely with the board
and executive management on strategy formulation, and serves
on the Board of Directors of Boston Private and on selected
firm boards. He is a
member of the company's Senior Policy Group.
Prior to joining Boston Private in September
1996, Walt served in various senior executive capacities
with Boston Safe Deposit and Trust Company and its parent,
The Boston Company. His career at The Boston Company spanned
26-years and included, among other assignments: Treasurer
and Chief Financial Officer of the corporation, Chief Planning
Officer, and Manager of Cash Management Services.
Walt serves as Chairman on the Board of Trustees of the Immune Disease Institute, Inc., a non-profit medical research firm affiliated with
Harvard Medical School and Children's
Hospital in Boston. He is past President and Director of
Financial Executives International Boston Chapter, past President
of the Treasurers' Club of Boston, and past President of
the Harvard Alumni Association of Boston.
Walt holds a bachelor of arts in chemistry
from the University of Vermont and a masters in business administration from the Harvard Graduate
School of Business Administration. He served as a First Lieutenant
with the U.S. Army Chemical Corps in the Vietnam theatre.
