Timothy
L. Vaill
Chairman and CEO
As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
of Boston Private, Tim has overall responsibility for establishing
the mission and vision of the company, developing the strategy
for implementation and its ultimate execution. He reports to the Board
of Directors and is responsible for keeping them fully informed
about and involved in the key policies and issues facing
the company. Tim serves on a number of the company’s
firms’ boards and chairs the company’s Senior
Policy Group.
Prior to joining Boston
Private, Tim
was President and a Director of Boston Safe Deposit and Trust
Company, a $10 billion private bank, and a Director of its
parent, The Boston Company, an asset management company.
He was with The Boston Company in various executive capacities
for 18-years, and among other assignments, directed all of
its international activities. He
left that company prior to its merger with Mellon Bank, and
from 1991 to 1992, he created a new wealth management business
for Fidelity Investments. Tim joined Boston Private
Bank & Trust Company, and its parent company, Boston
Private Financial Holdings, on January 1, 1993, as Chief
Executive Officer, and became Chairman of the holding company
in 1997.
Tim serves on the boards of directors
of the Schreiber Corporation, the Boston Ten Point Coalition,
the New England Aquarium, the New Hampshire Music Festival
and the Board of Trustees of Bay State College in Boston.
He is also an Overseer at the New England Conservatory of
Music and the New England Medical Center.
He holds a bachelor of science in mathematics
from Tufts University and a masters in business administration
(finance) from Harvard University. He is a six-year veteran
of the United States Navy and served in the Vietnam theater. |
